All eligible store sessions for the selected period; use the same tracking and bot-filter policy as the purchase count.

Count each converting session once, even if it contains multiple orders. Do not enter all orders or unique customers.

Optional comparable period using the same definition; enter 0 here and in its purchase field to skip comparison.

Converting sessions from that comparison period, counted once per session; not a sales target or industry benchmark.

Formula

Purchase conversion rate = sessions with a purchase ÷ all eligible sessions × 100. Percentage-point change = current conversion percentage − comparison conversion percentage. Relative change = (current conversion percentage − comparison conversion percentage) ÷ comparison conversion percentage × 100.

How to use this calculation

250 purchase-converting sessions ÷ 10,000 eligible sessions × 100 = 2.5%. A comparable period with 200 of 10,000 converting sessions gives 2%. The increase is 0.5 percentage points, or 25% relative to the comparison rate—not a 0.5% relative increase.

  • Use matching session and purchase definitions within each period and a consistent channel, attribution, bot-filter and consent policy across periods. A purchase event or total order count is not the same as a converting session. Open and closed funnels can count different sessions; do not mix their data.
  • All counts must be whole numbers, and converting sessions cannot exceed their corresponding total sessions. Zero current sessions makes the current rate undefined. Enter two zeros to omit the comparison period; a zero comparison conversion rate has no defined relative change, even though its percentage-point difference can still be calculated.
  • These are descriptive rates, not automatic tracking, an industry benchmark, a statistical significance test or proof that a change caused sales growth. Traffic mix, seasonality and tracking changes can affect comparisons. The starting numbers are examples, not recommended performance targets.
